Last of the Defibrillators Presented to Evansville Schools

Evansville Mason's of Union Lodge #32 Present the last of 3 defibrillators (AED's)to our Schools.
Members of the Masonic Lodge and others made a commitment to raise funds so that we could furnish life saving defibrillators (AED's) in each school complex in Evansville. The presentation of this defibrillator at the JC McKenna Middle school on September 21st, was made possible with the help of donations not only from Union Lodge but from Mrs. Carl Schoenenberger, Brother Mason Bill Broeg and the Masonic Foundation of Wisconsin.
When we started the defibrillator campaign the Evansville Emergency Medical Service was asked for assistance on what type of unit was the best, where to get it and they also provided training for staff at the schools. Now the Evansville High School, Levi Leonard Elementary school/ Theodore Robinson Intermediate School and JC McKenna Middle School all have a defibrillators on site. A few years ago the Mason's also donated money to the Evansville Fire District for a Heat Thermal machine for detecting "hot spots" inside a building.
The Masonic Lodge in Evansville also raises money for these projects by having fund raisers such as: 4th of July Barbecue pork tenderloin sandwich sale, Pancake breakfast, Garage sale day food sale and coming on Saturday October 6th 2007 @ 5:00pm a Chili supper at the Masonic Lodge 104 W. Main St. on the corner of W. Main & 1st. St. All fund raisers are open to the public.
Pictured is from right to left is Union Lodge #32 Lodge members Secretary Thomas Beaver, Jr. Deacon Rusty Thompson, Dwight Redders Jr.Worshipful Master, JC McKenna Middle School Principal Bob Flaherty accepting the defibrillator and Art Phillips Jr. Warden & News Hawk.

Helping out a Brother Mason

On Sunday, 9-23-07 a few members of Union Lodge #32 got together to help out a fellow brother mason that had some water damage. Dwight Redders, Tom Beaver, Art Phillips, Russ Thompson, Brandon Elmer, Eon Lathom and Bill Lathom met at brother Thompsons house at 8am. Brother Thompson has some damaged carpet and boxes in his basement from all of the rain we had in August.

I had heard brother Thompson needed help to get this mess cleaned up. I stopped by and had a nice visit with him one evening. Brother Thompson is getting up there in age and need a little help. I even think I have talked him into coming to lodge next time. I told him I would stop by and pick him up.

I talked to our Worshipful Master Dwight and the word was spread to our brothers about the clean up day. The work went quick and was cleaned up in no time. Brother Tom Beaver used his truck and it all was hauled away.

Brother Thompson was very grateful for what we had done. This is what we Masons are all about. We help out our fellow brother Masons.
